Users of the messaging platform, WhatsApp will soon have the opportunity to transcribe voice messages on the App.
Meta revealed this on Thursday via its verified Facebook handle for WhatsApp, stating that this new feature will ease the stress of listening to a long voice message.
With the new feature, once rolled out, users have added security advantage to protect their chats privacy by downloading the transcripts of their voice messages directly to their phone.
Meta, which is the parent company of Oculus, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, noted that the transcript feature will add another security layer to the end-to-end encryption policy. WhatsApp said it will also put an end to the platform’s ability to gain access to read, or hear users’ messages in some cases.
The transcript feature is going to be coming with the inbuilt capacity to transcribe in different select languages.
The post reads, “transcripts for voice messages are rolling out now! so when you can’t listen right away, you have the option to read them.
“Voice messages transcripts are generated on your phone so that no one, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read them rolling out in select languages.”
Worthy of note, nowadays, Meta has started mounting up different interesting features to improve the usability of WhatsApp. Last month, mention feature was added with users having the ability to mention anyone within their contact list on their statuses.
