Kidnapped victims, along with a traditional ruler in Kwara State, have reportedly escaped the kidnappers’ den after a violent clash between abductors and a vigilante group.

A report by Arise TV noted that a monarch and six others escaped from their abductors after some vigilantes clashed with the bandits at the Eku Idaji forest on Monday.

The bandits allegedly demanded N150 million after making contact with the monarch’s family on Sunday and asked him to speak to his people to confirm his whereabouts.

Salami reportedly pleaded with members of his community to come to his rescue by negotiating with the bandits for his quick release.

Quoting community sources, the report said the vigilante team launched an attack on the bandits deep in the forests and engaged them in a fierce battle around the Eku Idaji area, close to Igbaja.

“Although Baale and the six other escapees are yet to arrive in the community, they have made contact with members of the community who confirmed what happened,” one of the sources was quoted as saying.
