Cleverlydey4u, an X user, has been arrested at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch, Wuse Zone 2, in Abuja, by the men of the Nigerian Police Force.

The customer, who is only identified as Cleverlydey4u on X, posted Tuesday that the Nigerian Police Force men arrested him at the bank’s branch for the influx of ad revenue into his bank account.

According to his post, the bank had suspected the influx of ad revenue into his account to be fraudulent and thereafter sent for the police to arrest him.

Meanwhile, Cleverlydey4u, who often posts randomly on X, claimed the money was just his share of the X ad revenue.

Cleverlydey4u wrote, “I’ve just been arrested at @UBAGroup UBA wuse zone 2, My account was locked due to ad revenue I received, and when I went to the bank to explain that the money was legitimate, they called the fraud unit on me. This is unfair! Pls, help @TonyOElumelu.”

Worthy of note, X, owned by Elon Musk, has started paying content creators since June last year. Musk had promised to pay creators shares earned from ad revenue, provided they meet the requirements.

Some of the requirements to be qualified for ad revenue payment are a verified badge, at least 500 followers, and up to 3 million post impressions. Cleverlydey4u has over 46k followers.

UBA has not yet provided an official response to these events.

Several attempts via telephone calls to get in touch with the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja, Josephine Adeh, were unproductive. The UBA PRO, Udeme Ekwere, could not as well be reached.
