SSG, Chief of Staff, Five Commissioners Axed in Kano Cabinet Reshuffle
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, on Thursday, sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdullahi Bichi, on health grounds alongside five commissioners in a major cabinet shake-up.
The governor also scrapped the office of the Chief of Staff, occupied by Alhaji Shehu Sagagi. The affected commissioners were Ibrahim Jibril Fagge (Finance), Ladidi Ibrahim Garko (Culture and Tourism), Baba Halilu Dantiye (Information and Internal Affairs), Shehu Aliyu Yammedi, (Special Duties) and Abbas Sani Abbas (Rural and Community Development).
According to reports, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had suspended the SSG and the Commissioner for Transport, Muhammad Diggol, for disrespecting the party and its leadership.
Additionally, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating allegations of multi-million-naira procurement fraud and mismanagement of Federal Government palliative items against Sagagi.
In a press statement, through the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the cabinet reshuffle was aimed at enhancing administrative performance and political retooling.
The governor also reassigned some portfolios, with the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulssalam, now overseeing the Ministry of Higher Education.

Those retained in their positions included the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Danjuma Mahmoud; and Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran. The affected commissioners were directed to report to the Governor’s Office for possible reassignment.
