Our subjective decisions, outside anyone’s interference or political susceptibility, and based on proven track records gathered through citizens, witnessed projects completed, IGR and states activities observed: we deliberately pick 2022 top five performing Governors in Nigeria. And though, this is a period of political jamboree where all eyes and noses are conscious of where their feet will tread, we in no way did this to woo any political parties or candidates to ourselves this is why Governor Babajide Sanwolu was not included on the list. He still owns the duty to disclose those who gave the order of killing #Endsars Protesters at Lekki Toll Gate and as well deliver justice to the killer of Bamise Ayanwole in a Lagos State owned BRT and most recent murder of Lawyer Bolanle Raheem. Without that, irrespective of any innovation established by Sanwolu, he will never make it to the list. It is our subjection and on it, we stand. We believe, we simply do this to complete our duty of checks and balances as the year runs out and we’ll do this often in the subsequent years. We also know that most of the selected Governors might not be perfect.

Oyo State Governor, Dr Seyi Makinde

Seyi Makinde among many other Governors in Nigeria, toppled his way to be first of among the top five performing Governors with amazing infrastructural innovations, data-driven projects, strategic inventions and transformation of the Oyo State’s Internally Generated Revenue from barely 14 billion to over 52 billion naira in a year. Makinde demonstrated his commitment to Education by ensuring smooth running of all schools and teachers. Doing the former he ensured primary and secondary schools students stop paying their terminal fees, while as well building and facilitating classrooms. He also reduced the payment of tuition fees for LAUTECH students, turned Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a university and provide opportunity for students who have not paid their tuition fees to take their examinations.

Gov., Rivers State, Nyesom Wike

Nyesom Wike, before being the governor of Rivers State, had functioned in numerous tactical capacities. Having being elected State Chief of Rivers, Wike declared public primary and secondary education free. He has showed his liberal and astute awareness to all sectors under him, even identified with the women by signing a bill that strengthens a women’s right to inherit property to law. Wike, in a bid to increase the effect of his second term of office as the Governor of Rivers State, kicked-off the construction of three major flyovers simultaneously in Port Harcourt, located at Garrison, Rumoukoro and Artillery. Wike is known to be father of projects and has successfully completed all his campaign promises. This is why Wike made it to top five performing Governors in 2022.

Gov., Borno State, Babagana Zulum

Babagana Umara Zulum has constantly continue to surprise his people and the larger Nigerian populace with amazing fit in one of the most terrorizising state like, Borno. Being a governor in such a state frequently exposed to terrorists attack is noteworthy. Though, this might be one of his administration’s flaws, Zulum has successfully delivered at least more than 120 projects and still counting. Being a professor who so much love education, Zulum has sold over N353 Million naira to offering scholarships education for the marginalised and as well, integrate an avenue for youth to learn vocations that will make them independent. Give it to him, Zulum has done his best.

Gov., Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu

Despite the every efforts to get him distracted, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has successfully finished about 10 projects, including stunning increase of access to Portable Water from 4% to 17.6%. This was made possible with the rehabilitation of Owena Multipurpose Dam, among others. And to add with, Governor Akeredolu may actually be considered the best liberal governor full of empathy and patriotism to the state. He demonstrated this through the amazing stunt of Amotekun to tightened the security measures of the state. His impact and effort during the mass killings of worshippers in Ondo are even what Nigerians have not seen in Muhammadu Buhari nearly a decade.

Gov., Benue State, Samuel Ortom

Samuel Ortom’s sagacity, was effective with the establishment of Oracle Business Limited Foundation, as well as through funds set aside in St. Theresa’s Hospital, Makurdi and Rahama Hospital, Gboko Road, Makurdi, for treatment of hernia and snakebites free of charge to the patients. The governor made the foundation work to alleviate hardship for prison inmates, as well as offering various forms of skills acquisition for better reintegration into the society, making the Oracle Driving School another outreach, which trains qualified drivers on a regular basis.
