Residents Stranded As Rivers Govt demolished homes

1

The Rivers State government on Saturday has demolished homes at Elechi Phase I, Diobu, Port Harcourt living the residents of the place stranded with no abode.

Our correspondent discovered this today through an eyewitness who were present at the scenes of the demolition.

According to the witness, the state government had earlier threatened to evacuate residents in some coastal communities in the state for allegedly harbouring criminals.

But this move had been objected to civil society organisations.

Nevertheless, the government still carried out the demolition.
