The Nigerian House of Representatives has postponed the planned security summit scheduled to hold tomorrow.
This was announced in a statement issued shortly by the clerk of the house, Mr Chinedu Akubueze, adding that the decision was in honour of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-general Ibrahim Attahiru and other military personnel who died in a plane crash in kaduna on friday.
Mr akubueze also expressed the house’s grief and sorrow to the families of the late top military officers, praying that the almighty god will grant them eternal rest.
Earlier, the speaker of the house, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, mourned the late Chief of Army Staff noting that Attahiru had shown a lot of commitment in tackling the security situation in the country.
While describing Attahiru as a core professional officer, Speaker said the Nigerian Military, especially the Nigerian Army, had lost a dedicated and committed senior officer whose services to the fatherland will be sorely missed.
However, while yet to finished churning that the house ad-hoc committee on assessment and status of all recovered loots, movable and immovable assets invites the Minister of Justice and Attorney-general of Federation, Abubakar Malami to give updates on the recovered loots.
Others also invited included the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning; the National Security Adviser, retired major general Babagana Mongunu; The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC); the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (icpc); the Nigeria Police Force; Nigeria Customs Service and Nigerian Navy.
A statement from the committee signed by its chairman, honorable adejoro adeogun and made available to the newsmen today in abuja mandated the ministers and all other invited personnel to appear tomorrow being the day the panel is holding an investigative hearing on the recovered assets.
According to the statement, the investigation covers between 2002 and 2020.
The essence of the hearing, the committee said was to ensure effective and efficient management and utilization of the recovered assets.
Other stakeholders were also invited by the committee to make input.
