Partial Blackout Hits YABATECH Two Weeks to PT Exams

Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH has been beset by a partial blackout, merely two weeks before Part Time examinations commence, throwing students’ exam preparations into chaos.

 

This development follows a week-long resumption of physical classes, initially scheduled online due to anticipated student protests over tuition hikes.

 

The institution reopened its doors to physical classes on Saturday, October 26, but power shortages have already disrupted learning. Part-time students, who resumed classes, reported that the blackout has persisted for three days.

 

According to a our source; a PT Student of the College who pleaded to be anonymous to avoid being questioned by the School Authority, said the power outage has severely impacted academic activities, particularly as exams approach. “We’re struggling to study and prepare for exams without electricity,” one student lamented. The blackout has severely impacted academic activities, exacerbating exam preparation challenges.

Another source in the College who is a worker also pleaded to be anonymous, said that the power shortage has deprived him from working efficiently and has caused him more expenses such as buying fuel in their generator before working which is on a higher cost now in Nigeria. “The power shortage is really making me spend more on fuel and it is making me spend a lot after paying my shop rent,” he said.

 

 

However, the College administrators have yet to comment on the blackout or provide a timeline for resolution with the PHCN in order to restore power.
