Ospoly fresh graduates lament extra charges collected by management

As issues surface after checking final year results.

Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, fresh graduate has regretted the tricks deployed by the institution to exploit students despite painstakingly submitting necessary documents during admission screening exercise and after.

 

This is coming after results of the institution’s fresh graduates across ND and HND levels were released recently.

 

in which some students discovered that they had drawbacks which didn’t allow them access their final year result.

 

The affected fresh graduate made this known in an interview with the pijanews that there are series of strange issues on their final results like ND Awaiting, Used Scratch, Fake ND result, Dossier problem, violation of sitting arrangement, poor photocopy and more.

 

“I was told I have ND Awaiting result. I am surprised because the pre-registration form given to me when I started my HND screening, can never be signed, in fact, screening can never be conducted for me if I have ND awaiting result.

 

“I was now told to pay 20,000 naira to get my issue rectified. I said why must I pay, if I should pay, I must know why.”

 

Another student who gave the hint said that Graduates with the issues of ND awaiting result who had their National Diploma from either northern or Eastern polytechnic, will 20,000; some from South West will pay 10,000 while if some had their ND programme in the institution would pay 5000 naira.

 

Pijanews gathered that Others affected with issues of scratch card were told to pay for the scratch card again and for the checking. Depending on the kind of O’level used would determine their payment. For NABTEB is, 1500, for NECO is, 1750, for WAEC is, 2500.

 

Another students expressed displeasure as he stated that he presented NABTEB but was shocked to see used NECO card, he was quoted saying,

 

“I graduated from kwarapoly and presented NABTEB result now I am much confused that I saw used NECO card this issue is strange to me and I am deeply heart broken”.

Commenting on the issue, some students said that the used scratch card issue can not be caused by students as they imperatively paid for the scratch card during their screening exercises to the Institution through the screening officers, pijanews garnered that the screening officer would sell scratch card for them and collect it again from them staple it together with their credentials.

 

“They never gave us the chance to make use of the scratch card, I am still wondering how it became used and affected me. Are they not the one that sold it for us?” One ND graduate affected said.

 

Furthermore, other related issues were the issues of dossier problems. Student claimed they submitted their files yet were given dossier problem and were still mandated to pay another money for rectification.

 

When asked, the students said “they said our files is not clear. But I know they are just trying to look for cover up..they do that intentionally because of reasons best known to the institution.”

 

It was gathered that most of the students who claimed to have dossier problem had submitted their files before graduation.

 

Meanwhile, when speaking with one of the officers in charge at the verification office where students were made to submit their issues requesting for a rectification having paid a sum of money at the school Bursary.

 

The officer said that he has nothing to say because management is the one that instructed them and they cannot decline. He stressed that if there is anything our correspondent delight to know the management should be consulted.

 

The DSA of the institution while addressing some aggrieved students who had ND awaiting issue said that they should be patient and expect feedback on Wednesday according to a video available online.

 

Affected OSPOLY graduates hereby want NANS and the state government to come to their rescue as the hardship is becoming incessant and unbearable.
