Ogbomoso Hotel Owner, LAUTECH Student Killed in Kidnap Case, Three Brothers Arrested
Three brothers have been arrested for the abduction and murder of the owner of Tana Suite Hotel, along with Rachael Opadele, a final year student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, during a recent kidnap incident in Ogbomoso.
The suspects, Namaru Abubakar, Saliu Abubakar, and Usman Abubakar, were apprehended while attempting to kidnap another victim in Ogbomoso, Alhaji Waheed, with the help of local hunters and vigilantes. The suspects confessed to killing the Tana Suite Hotel owner and one of his employees, Opadele.
According to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, the suspects threatened Alhaji Waheed, saying that he must tell his family to send them a large sum of money or they would kill him just as they had killed the owner of the hotel.
Meanwhile, this is the third kidnap incident in Ogbomoso within a month, with previous victims including the caretaker of a farm belonging to the former Governor of Oyo State and the founder of a private hospital. In August of 2022, the Tana Suite Hotel owner and Opadele were also kidnapped and taken to a village, where the suspects demanded and received a ransom of 5 million Naira before killing both victims.
Additionally, the shopkeeper sent by the family of the deceased hotel owner to deliver the ransom, Idowu Ajagbe, was also shot and killed by the suspects. The investigation into the kidnappings is ongoing, and SP Osifeso has confirmed that they are working to identify any accomplices of the three brothers.
