MohBad: Over 200,000 People Sign Petition to Ban Marlian Music

A tidal wave of public outrage has swept across the music industry as more than 200,000 individuals have signed a petition to ban Marlian Music, a prominent Nigerian record label. The uproar follows allegations linking the label’s founder and controversial artist, Azeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley, and music producer, Sam Larry, to the untimely demise of former signee Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad.

The petition, which has gained significant traction on social media and various online platforms, calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s death and the potential involvement of key figures within the record label.

MohBad, a promising young artist, had been part of Marlian Music until the termination of his contract on October 7, 2022.

His sudden and tragic passing came after making series of confessions that Naira Marley, Sam Larry and all other Marlian Music members assaulted him and want him dead. “If I died today, na Naira Marley, Sam Larry, all Marlian Music…”, MohBad had said in one of the videos where he made the confession of his assault.

More recently, a video of his illegal arrest by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) surfaced after his death where the MohBad revealed that an officer of the NDLEA gave him something to drink among other Marlian Music members that were arrested.

These and many more make circumstances of his death raised questions among fans and industry insiders alike, leading to a public outcry for justice.

The accusations against Naira Marley, a controversial figure known for his unapologetic persona, and Sam Larry, have intensified the controversy. Both have vehemently denied any involvement in MohBad’s death and have called for a fair and impartial investigation.

Though, a video surfaced shortly after the burial of MohBad, alleging that Sam Larry had a conversation with a yet-to-be-identified who said, “won ti gbe sin,” translated as “they have buried him.”

The petition’s creator, who wishes to remain anonymous for security reasons, stated, “We are deeply concerned about the safety and wellbeing of artists within the industry. We demand a thorough investigation to uncover the truth about what happened to MohBad and whether there was any foul play involved.”

The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed that they are looking into the allegations and will conduct a comprehensive inquiry to determine whether any criminal activity took place. The investigation is expected to be thorough and transparent, with authorities committed to uncovering the truth.

Marlian Music, founded in 2019, has gained notoriety for its association with controversial themes and artists, often pushing the boundaries of societal norms in its music and videos. This controversy has only added to its reputation, leading some to question the label’s future.

As the petition continues to gather support, the music industry watches closely, awaiting the results of the investigation.
