Lagos Power Distribution Company Fixes Deadline for Free Metre Upgrade
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced November 25th, 2024 as deadline for the newly launched free STS 2.0 Meter Upgrade for Customers.
According to Babatunde Lasaki, General Manager, Corporate Communications and Strategy, “the upgrade is necessary due to the impending expiration of the current vending platform.”
Lasaki said that, “the newly launched Standard Transfer Specification (STS) 2.0 meter upgrade will be free for all its metered customers, in which assistance will be available on Saturdays, November 2 and 9 for loading existing tokens before starting the upgrade process as old tokens will no longer work on upgraded meters.”
He noted that, “the transition aims to provide customers with a more advanced and efficient metering system.
“Customers who wants to benefit from the upgrade are advised to follow these simple steps: Visit http://kctcheck.ekedp.com and enter your meter number, Click “search” to retrieve two sets of 20-digit Key Change Tokens (KCTs), Enter the first KCT and press “Enter”, then enter the second KCT and press “Enter” to complete the upgrade.
“Alternatively, customers can receive the KCTs when purchasing electricity units; two KCTs will be provided along with their regular token, which must be loaded to complete the upgrade,” he said.
Furthermore, he said customers can also visit any EKEDC District or Zonal office, where help desks are available, as its staff will also be on hand to assist on designated Saturdays, emphasizing that the upgrade process is free and urged customers not to pay anyone for the service as the upgrade aims to enhance customer experience and provide a more efficient and reliable metering system.
