Lagos Government Seals Prominent Ikeja Golf Club Over Negligence and Disregard for Public Safety
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has taken drastic action against the Ikeja Golf Club, sealing it off due to negligence and disregard for public safety.
This decision follows numerous complaints about safety lapses at the club, including a recent incident where a golf ball struck a LASBCA staff member at the agency’s Ikeja Headquarters.
Additionally, there have been multiple reports of stray golf balls damaging vehicles in the vicinity, with the club’s management allegedly ignoring repeated instructions to implement necessary safety measures such as protective netting or modified play areas.
LASBCA General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, expressed disappointment and concern over the club’s negligence, stating that persistent disregard for safety regulations is unacceptable and puts lives and property at risk.
The club will remain sealed until it implements adequate safety measures to address these risks.
