Kwara Tells Citizens in Terrorised Regions to Stay Indoors While Combing ‘Uncertain’ Den of Kidnappers
Notably, there has been a siege of kidnappings and insurgency attacks across some Kwara State communities.
The Kwara State Government has told residents in parts of the state to remain vigilant and restrict outdoor movements as security forces intensify operations against kidnappers ‘believed’ to be hiding in border communities.
The security advice specifically targets residents of Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun Local Government Areas, following joint operations by security personnel in border towns between Kogi and Kwara.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Olukoju said the government regretted the temporary inconvenience the advisory may cause in affected communities but maintained it was necessary to safeguard lives.
She commended the security forces for what she described as renewed efforts to rout criminal elements and called for sustained operations until the kidnappers are neutralised and flushed out of the forests.

In the recent times, the attacks, which the majority of the victims believed to be perpetrated by alleged fulani herders, have led to a series of killing and kidnapping for ransom.
PIJAlance reported that so many communities have been deserted as a result of the attacks.
Security agencies have said they are working to restore peace back to communities but the reality leaves their efforts futile.
Community members have accused the Kwar State Government of complicity due to what they described as its silence towards several cases of the attacks.
