BREAKFAST: NIGERIAN COINAGES AND WORD SENSES
The Big Chief of Castlefern Nigeria, Montell Benson, has again released the analysis of a new Nigerian Coinage, under the series of Nigerian Coinages and Word Senses after From Obedient to Obidient: Words from Political Scene and Alert! New Word For Your Writing, Speaking.
This new series is in furtherance of the former series published under the title: Words From Political Scene before the author changed the name.
According to Benson, the elegance of this series, as well as the recent change of name, has been as a result of the informed professional, and often sharp, critical suggestions of his mentor, big brother and friend, Professor Louis Pembroke. This and the preceding edition have been profoundly improved because of his invaluable inputs, for which, he added, is “immensely grateful.”
Today’s edition features an existing English word whose new meaning was popularised by Burna Boy.
~ /brekfəst/[]♦(n.)
▪[] the ending of a romantic relationship, especially when it is unexpected; a break-up or divorce
•It was still early in the relationship; so I don’t think he was mentally prepared for the breakfast, although there were warning signs.
