Just In: World Adopt August 19 As Humanitarian Workers Day

Governments and Non-governmental organisations across the globe has adopted August 19 as the day for humanitarian workers.

 

This was announced by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, via its twitter handle, recently.

 

The announcement added that the day is set aside to recognise the efforts of the humanitarian workers towards alleviating the most challenging situations and human suffering.

 

The announcement reads: “The world has adopted August 19 annually as the day to recognize humanitarian workers and efforts. On this day, all across the globe, governments and non-governmental organizations showcase the tremendous effort and investment toward alleviating the world’s most challenging situations and human suffering.”

 

Furthermore, it added that the World HumanitarianDay is used to advocate for peace and stability.

 

“Similarly, the #WorldHumanitarianDay is used to advocate for peace and stability at home and abroad.”
