Just In: Two Dead As OPC, Yoruba Nation Clash continues in Lagos

Several scenes of unrest have consistently been reported in the area of Ojota, Lagos State as some Yoruba Nation agitators held a rally on Monday resulting to abnormal clash with Oodua People’s Congress, members.

 

PIJAlance gathered that the rally which took place on Monday, was said to have been disrupted by the OPC members, resulting to an unrest in the area.

 

Viral videos have shown that residents at the mentioned area were alarmed as the two groups clashed during the rally which made both motorist and commuters run helter-skelter along the road for safety resulting to casualties.

 

Since the clash, no fewer than two persons have died in the clash, PIJAlance learnt. A young man believed to be in his mid-twenties and another yet-to-be-identified person were felled in the clash on Monday.

 

Official of the police Rapid Response Squad were also on hand to disperse the groups with teargas. Sources said vehicles were razed and residents scampered to escape the chaos, as stampede let loose.

 

“We Police arrived at the place the trouble was happening, they shot teargas in the air to make body go away but those who injured we don’t know”.

 

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, told the Newsmen that he was yet to get full details of the incident and would revert when he did.
