Residents of Apake, a neighborhood in the city of Ogbomoso, were shocked and saddened by the tragic news that a 49-year-old man was found dead by hanging in his room on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Okelerin Baptist Basic School. The deceased, who has not been named, was discovered hanging by neighbors at around 9:30am.

According to witnesses, the man had been seen with a friend earlier that morning at around 7:30. The friend was said to have left the deceased’s residence just minutes before the tragic discovery was made. The deceased was reported to be a trailer driver and was not yet married.

The possible cause of the man’s suicide is believed to be connected to pressure from family members to get married. One neighbor who wished to remain anonymous informed that some of the man’s family members had visited him earlier this year and had joked about wanting to see his child by the end of the year. It is suggested that this may have added to the man’s emotional stress and ultimately led him to take his own life.

The matter has not yet been reported to the police and the body has been removed from the scene for further investigations and a possible autopsy. The community is in shock and mourning over the loss of one of their own. A friend of the deceased said “he was such a kind and gentle man, it is truly a tragedy that he felt like he had no other option than to take his own life.”

The incident highlights the importance of mental health awareness, and reminding people that it is never too late to reach out for help when feeling overwhelmed or in emotional distress. Mental health professionals and suicide hotlines are available to support those in need.
