Bolanle Ninalowo and the Extraction 2 Controversy
In days before the release of Extraction 2, Bolanle Ninalowo posted a short video and pictures of him being on set of some scenes in an action-thrilled movie with a cryptic suggestion that the movie is Extraction 2.
Based on this, congratulations poured from fans under the post which, showed the Nollywood star posing in a behind-the-scenes image with fellow actor Noxolo Dlamini, with both wearing military-style clothing, which he captioned with the hashtags, #Extraction2, #TylerRakeLives and #Netflix.
However, after the release of Extraction 2, the post has stirred up controversies on social media on whether Nino is part of the actors in the blockbuster American movie, Extraction 2 directed by Chris Hemsworth.
HITV wrote that “Netflix fans have been left asking if Bolanle Ninalowo will be in Extraction 2 after the Nigerian actor has posted a series of behind-the-scenes images to suggest he’s in the cast.”
“As the sequel to one of Netflix’s biggest-ever films, Extraction 2 has been able to attract some huge names to its cast with the likes of Idris Elba and Olga Kurylenko starring alongside Chris Hemsworth.
“In the run-up to the film’s release, fans have also been asking if Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo will also be in Extractopm 2 after he posted a series of pictures on social media showing him wearing tactical military gear.
“In the days leading up to Extraction 2’s explosive arrival, Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo, also known as Nino B, posted a series of images to his Instagram and Twitter accounts that seemed to suggest he would be appearing in the Netflix action flick.
“Understandably, fans were left with the impression he would be featuring in the upcoming film, with many posting congratulatory comments.”
Is Bolanle Ninalowo in Extraction 2?
No, Bolanle Ninalowo isn’t actually appearing in Extraction 2, Weekend PIJAlance found. But there’s a probability that the actor stars in the American mockumentary film—Distraction: The Extraction of Don.
In reality, the images that Nino showed off were actually from the shoot of a mockumentary that the Nigerian actor was filming.
The mockumentary film, which has been inspired by Extraction 2, is titled Distraction: The Extraction of Don, which sees a team of dangerous mercenaries kidnapping creative director Donovon Goliath in an attempt to extract his Netflix password.
Netflix Nigeria’s account on Twitter confirmed that the Nino B project was only a mockumentary when it released a trailer on June 14.
The trailer states that Distraction: The Extraction of Don will be available from June 16, but a quick search on Netflix shows that is not the case, at least at the time of writing.
Perhaps the trailer is the extent of the mockumentary and has been designed solely to fool fans.
While Distraction: The Extraction of Don is currently nowhere to be seen on Netflix, the same cannot be said for Extraction 2 as the all-action blockbuster has been made available on Friday, June 16.
Following on from the events of 2020’s film, which arrived just as the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, Extraction 2 continues the story of Tyler Rake after his near-fatal exploits in India.
This time, however, Rake’s mission is far more personal as he is tasked with reducing his ex-wife’s sister Ketevan and her children who have been imprisoned by a Georgian gangster in one of the deadliest prisons in the world.
