Ife Robbery Attack: ‘It is the third day of sleepless nights’ — residents
The residents of the Ifedolapo area in Ife have lamented Thursday to be their third day of having sleepless nights because of armed robbers’ threat.
Our correspondent yet in a series of WhatsApp interviews garnered that on Thursday while repeated gunshots continued at the Ifedolapo area of Ife the armed robbers were still nowhere to be found yet.
A source said, community vigilantes have been parading with repeated gunshots, burning of tyres and shouting of ‘thief’ with the hope of chasing away the armed robbers who had written them a letter, which PIJAlance have obtained a copy of, promising them a robbery attack, soon.
The letter is translated as: “Greetings all residents of Oloopomewa ati Ogooluwa that you’re well done.
“We are using this medium to inform you that we the armed robbers will come to your area for a visit.
“So prepare yourself for our coming. We know that your have vigilantes and many guns, but we are promising you as well that we are also ready for you.”
The source said since Tuesday, hitherto, Thursday residents and vigilantes have not had a nap in fear of when the robbers would come.
Below is the audio note of gunshots sent through a WhatsApp interview with one of the residents, yesterday.
