Hanifa is our only child — Father
Father of the five-year old girl Hanifa Abubakar murdered by her abductors despite ransom collected has said she was their only child.
The father disclosed this to the BBC Hausa today during an interview with him.
He said her mother has been hospitalized since the period she heard of her abduction, at first.
Hanifa Abubakar, according to Abubakar’s uncle, Suraj Suleiman was at first taken to one of the abductors wife to keep her but the wife refused.
Later he now took her to Tudunwada where he operated on her.
The uncle said, “The kidnapper first took Hanifa to his wife, but the wife refused to keep her. He then took her to Tudunwada where he operates a private school and then laced her tea with rat poison.
“After she was poisoned to death, the kidnappers then cut her body into pieces and buried it within the school.”
The police on Thursday confirmed that the remains of the five-year-old girl were discovered in a shallow grave on private school premises in Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kano State.
After abducting Hanifa on December 2, 2021, the abductors took her to a hideout and contacted her relatives for N6 million ransom.
Police spokesman in the state, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said 30-year-old Abdulmalik Mohammed and 37-year-old Hashim Isyaku have been arrested in connection with the kidnap and killing.
Kiyawa noted that the victim’s body parts were exhumed and taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital Kano.
Upon the completion of the investigation, the police said the case would be charged to court.
