The Federal Government of Nigeria has repatriated 196 Nigerian deportees who were being held at a deportation camp in India, PIJAlance learnt.
These individuals had been arrested by Indian police and had been waiting for repatriation for an unknown number of years, a source told PIJAlance.
Earlier, PIJAlance had reported that Nigerian migrants in India are stranded at the Nigerian Embassy after paying a sum of over 50,000 rupees to return home—an amount nearly equivalent to about 500,000 thousand in naira.
However, the Federal Government did not evacuate the stranded Nigerians who were waiting at the Nigerian embassy in India after paying a sum equivalent to about 500,000 naira to return home.

There are also hundreds of Nigerians with expired passports who have applied for evacuation through the embassy but have yet to be attended to.
The High Commission of Nigeria in New Delhi has rescheduled the evacuation until further notice, leaving stranded migrants uncertain of their future.
