Emmanuel Alayande Probably Refuses Upgrade, Maintains Former Name
"Seyi Makinde has done his own, what remains is the NUC to finalise the last process,"
Despite signing the bill to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education from a college to a university, it seems the management of the institution has refused to let go of the old name, PIJAlance Research and Investigations Desk has learnt.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, had on December 02, 2022 signed the bill seeking to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a university.
According to the governor, the bill, having being signed is expected to take its effects, immediately.
But since December 2022, until the time of filing this report, our thoroughgoing team of investigators at RID have found that Management of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education has refused to adjust to the new change.
A source who would not want to be mentioned told RID that the institution is still running NCE and regular degree programmes. Adding that the institution probably is waiting for Government to finish the preparation with the NUC before the official announcement would be done.
“Seyi Makinde has done his own, what remains is the NUC to finalise the last process,” another source stated.
Also, a view to its website, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education was written as a name on it rather Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.

Efforts to reach the institution’s provost was proven abortive. Its Media and Public Relations office, also left our repeated calls unanswered.
RID Investigation has also shown that though Wikipedia has updated the name of the institution, it has not updated the name of its provost.
Dr. N.A Oyewo, was written as the provost of the Institution on its website, whereas on Wikipedia it was written Dr Rasak Adefabi. It became a thing of speculation and a source of skepticism to think who is actually the provost of the institution.
However, our suggestion as RID is whether through negligence or recalcitrance towards technological innovation, it is expected of an institution that proud itself to be reputable to clear all these loopholes as none of these will make the institution appear as smart as it desired to be.
