A broadcast journalist in Ekiti State, Dayo Adegbite, has filed a petition with the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) against Mrs. Mary Osho Omotosho, Director General of the Bureau of Community Communication.
According to Adegbite, Omotosho accused him of working for the opposition party and Engr Kayode Ojo, simply because he was carrying out his duties as a broadcast journalist on air. Adegbite hosts various programs on Voice FM 89.9 Ado Ekiti, including AKEKAKA, Edoki Iroyin, and Faaji Plus.
Omotosho allegedly stated that she would ensure Adegbite is chased out of Ekiti State. This threat has been corroborated by more than four individuals who have contacted Adegbite directly. Fearing for his safety, Adegbite seeks the police’s timely intervention to protect him from potential harm.

In a similar vein, the Ekiti State Government has emphasized its commitment to supporting media practitioners, with Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye assuring that the Biodun Oyebanji administration will not muzzle or harass journalists. The government recognizes the crucial role of the media in promoting good governance and has pledged to partner with them to achieve this goal.
