Ekiti Community Gets 500KVA Transformer after 14-Year of Darkness

The people of Ilumoba-Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State are celebrating the arrival of a new 500KVA Aston transformer, ending 14 years of darkness in the community. Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been praised as a “man of light” for his swift intervention in addressing the community’s power needs.

According to Oba Jimoh Oluwagbemiga, the monarch of Ilumoba-Ekiti, the community had struggled with darkness for 14 years, crippling businesses and stifling development.

However, Governor Oyebanji’s prompt approval of the transformer has brought relief to the community.

The monarch assured the governor of the community’s unwavering support for his second-term bid, saying the people of Ilumoba-Ekiti stand firmly behind his leadership.

APC Ward Chairman, Idowu Afuye, and Youth Leader Adewale Olokunlade, described the transformer as a “renewed hope” for the community. They emphasized that restoring power supply would enhance socio-economic development, revitalize the local economy, and improve social life.

Commissioner for Community and Rural Development, Oluwafemi Awe, who handed over the transformer, highlighted Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to grassroots development.

Awe noted that the governor’s swift approval demonstrated his understanding of the community’s needs and his willingness to act decisively.

Since the inception of office in October 16, 2022, Governor Oyebanji’s has prioritized infrastructure development, including power generation and distribution.

So far, the governor has commissioned the 3.6 megawatt Ekiti Independent Power Project (IPP) in Ado Ekiti, aimed at boosting economic activities and industrialization.

The people of Ilumoba-Ekiti are now looking forward to enjoying the benefits of reliable power supply, thanks to Governor Oyebanji’s leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
