DW Traineeship Seeks Applications for International Program

The Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie, a German-based international media organisation, is seeking qualified applications for the DW traineeship programme.
The DW traineeship has equipped emerging journalists on key aspects of international broadcasting, documentary and the fundamentals of journalism.
Qualified candidates are expected to apply and fill one of the 12 coveted spots. Applicants must also complete a multi-level application process, submit creative ideas, and participate in an online assessment.
For the traineeship, DW is seeking open-minded and critical-thinking individuals with a background in journalism or who are passionate about transitioning to journalism from law, economics, science, or technology/IT.
After registering in the application portal, applicants will receive a confirmation email containing several application tasks.
These tasks include a questionnaire and the production of an application video.
Completing these tasks is mandatory for a valid application, and they must be uploaded to the applicant’s profile before the deadline. Organisers advise that applicants should keep in mind that the tasks may be time-consuming.
The application period for the 2027 international traineeship is open from October 13, 2025 (12 p.m. CEST) to November 17, 2025 (12 p.m. CET). Applications have to be made online only within the given timeframe, using the application link below.
