Jigawa State has recently been affected by a cholera outbreak, leaving over 41 graves dug and filled dead bodies in a day, NR reported on Tuesday. Despite this, the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, (JISIEC), has said it has concluded all the necessary precautions for the conduct of the upcoming local government election and nothing can stop it.

The chairman of the commission, Auwal Harbo, said this while briefing newsmen at the commission’s headquarters in Dutse, as the State looks up to October 5, 2024, for the conduct of the election.

According to him: “We have concluded all the necessary preparations for a free and credible electoral process.”

Harbo explained that 11 political parties will participate in the election, including the major opposition parties, NNPP and PDP.

“Also, 95 per cent of election material, including sensitive and non-sensitive materials, is ready for distribution.

“We will also recruit 14,794 ad hoc staff across the 287 political wards of the 27 local government areas,” he said.

The chairman noted that all measures have been taken to guarantee the security and peaceful conduct of the election.
