Bureaucracy In Democratic Party And The Place Of Kwara NNPP
The Kwara State Chairman of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Honourable Abdulsalam AbdulRazaq has reacted to allegations that the party’s executives in the state have been dissolved.
Abdulsalam AbdulRazaq-led NNPP executives was dissolved by the National Working Committee, with the Chairman handed a six-month suspension.
It was further gathered that the NNPP national executive council carried out same exercise in other nine states, others being Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Niger, Katsina,Kaduna, Rivers, Enugu and Zamfara.
However, in his reaction AbdulRazaq said the dissolution of Kwara executive of NNPP is null and void.
He asserted that NNPP National Secretary Dipo Olayoku, who signed separate letters of dissolution of Kwara Executives and his own suspension, had been suspended by the executive members of his local constituency in Ward 5, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He was suspended for alleged anti-party activities among others as contained in a letter addressed to Olayokun dated August 6 and titled, “Notice of Suspension”. The letter, which contained his sanction, was officially signed by 25 members of the executive team of the ward, including 25 other ward members.

“You cannot suspend anybody without a fair hearing. We know the country’s situation, you cannot abruptly call anyone to come to Abuja without making any provision. I then gave you another time I could make it to Abuja.
“As the Kwara Chairman, I double as chairman of all NNPP chairmen/chairpersons. They suspended seven people earlier and I said ‘no, it’s not done like that. When you see anything amiss, you set up a committee which would visit various states and give you reports on the allegations.’
“I will send you a letter sent by the BoT Chairman to the national executives to go and withdraw their earlier suspension with immediate effect after he listened to our complaint.
“They sent me the purported letter of suspension on WhatsApp. Was I inaugurated Kwara NNPP Chairman via WhatsApp? They even wrote my name wrongly on the letter.”
Abdulsalam AbdulRazaq also fingered some high-placed persons in the party of trying to hijack the Kwara State structure of the NNPP.
He continued: “out of all alleged suspended people, there was none that they laid emplhases on his suspension as mine, and that’s because I’m the chairman of all chairmen. They wanted to make sure my porpurted suspension resonated.
“I know some people have interest in NNPP leadership in Kwara State. But one has to be in line with his background. Someone cannot sit down somewhere and wants to turn everyone else to pushovers.”
Suspended Issuing Suspensions
On the 28 July, 2023 the suspended National Secretary Dipo Olayoku wrote a letter with the heading; “DISSOLUTION OF THE STATE, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, AND WARDS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES IN KWARA STATE” to Abdulsalam AbdulRazaq-led admiration.
The content was “I write to inform you that at the meting of the National Working Committee of our party held on 28” July 2023 it was resolved, in accordance with relevant sections/articles of our Constitution, that the Executive Committees at every level in your state, be dissolved.
“A Caretaker Committee has been appointed in the interim and you are directed to handover all party documents and properties to the Committee.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee, I thank you for your service.”
This was a few days later followed by another letter “6(SIX) MONTHS SUSPENSION FROM THE NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE’S PARTY” to “AbdulRazak Abdulrahman”. The exact day was 7 August, 2023.
It read, “Dear Sir,
“I write to inform you that at the meeting of the National Working Committee of

it is your right to be heard, as enshrined in our party’s constitution.”
NNPP Founder Differs, Reinstates Suspended Nine State Executives
“I was suspended simply because as the chairman of the NNPP states chairmen I attended a meeting with the chairman of the Board of Trustees of our party, Dr Boniface Aniebonam on the 5th August, 2023, where I expressed opposition to the dissolution of the NNPP executives in seven states,“ Abdulrazaq stated……
The founder and chairman, Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Boniface Aniebonam, has described the purported expulsion of the Ogun State Chairman of the party, Olaposi Oginni, by the National Working Committee, NWC, as unconstitutional and illegal.
Aniebonam stated that he was not aware of the expulsion, stressing that the action of the party’s NWC did not have his blessings.
Recall that NNPP national publicity secretary, Dr Agbo Major, had announced the expulsion of Oginni-led Ogun State executive over an alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
Major accused the leadership of the party in the state of working against the NNPP’s interest by endorsing other parties candidate in the state.
Reacting to the expulsion in a statement dated August 14, the NNPP founder stressed that the party’s NWC did not follow due process and procedures in the expulsion of Oginni as Ogun chairman.
Aniebonam explained that the national convention of the party has the final authority to expel a member, stressing that it is beyond the NWC to publicly announce Oginni’s expulsion without due process.
