With about 35.1 million persons currently living with disabilities in Nigeria, the Boluwatiwi Support Foundation (BSF), in a bid to support people with disabilities, visited the Modupe Cole Memorial Childcare and Treatment Home/School for its maiden charity programme.
Modupe Cole School, which has 470 persons with disabilities—mainly children—was founded in 1960 to prepare children with disabilities to be useful to themselves and society at large.
The foundation donated several food items and toiletries to the school, adding that more charity programmes will be executed in the coming months.
According to its founder, Thelma Animasahun, the Boluwatiwi Support Foundation was established to honour the memory of her late daughter, Boluwatiwi Animasahun, who was committed to several charity works before her passing earlier this year due to a brain tumour.
“The Boluwatiwi Support Foundation (BSF) was created to honour her memory and extend the love she radiated to those who need it most. Watching her fight was both heartbreaking and inspiring. In the face of illness, she remained a source of joy and encouragement to everyone around her. Her passing left a void, but it also sparked a powerful mission—to be a support system for those who, like her, are navigating unimaginable challenges.
“Today’s outreach was one of a kind and done in loving memory of Boluwatiwi, my darling daughter who loved doing good and impacting lives. Going forward, we hope to touch more lives and help the needy,” she said.
The foundation’s secretary, Damilola Animasahun, noted that plans are ongoing to implement more outreach programmes, and community-building efforts.
The school’s Vice Principal, Ajani Iseac, appreciated the foundation, calling for more support to ensure students, especially children, are better catered for.
