Blessing Chinwe Leads Girls Awake in Empowering 700 Girls
Agbo Blessing Chinwe, the founder of Girls Awake, will spearhead the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2024, with an event themed “Her Safety, Our Priority: Securing a Future for Every Girl.” The event will focus on empowering over 700 girls by fostering mental health awareness, self-love, and self-awareness.
As the convener of Girls Awake, Chinwe has dedicated her work to nurturing girls into confident and capable individuals. This year’s event will include a vital session led by the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI), a mental health advocacy group. Blessing, in collaboration with MANI, aims to equip the girls with the tools to understand and manage their mental health, addressing a critical issue faced by many young girls today.
Chinwe will also lead a special session on self-awareness and self-love, encouraging the participants to embrace their uniqueness and cultivate kindness. Speaking about the event, she shared her vision: “It is essential for every girl to know her worth, to embrace her individuality, and to foster a supportive community around her. At Girls Awake, we aim to awaken the potential within every girl, and this event is one of the many ways we work toward that mission.”
As part of her commitment to empowering young girls, copies of her book “Becoming You: The Puberty Guide for Girls” will be distributed at the event. The book, which offers practical advice on body image, self-care, and confidence, complements the event’s theme and serves as a tool for young girls to navigate their growth journey.
Chinwe’s passion for empowering girls is at the heart of Girls Awake’s mission. “This event is more than a celebration. It’s an opportunity to give girls the resources they need to thrive,” she emphasized.
