Bethiez Foundation, JCI Premier Empower Over 130 Girls in Ibadan with Menstrual Health Outreach
Themed “Flow with Dignity: Empowering Girls, One Pad at a Time”, the initiative promoted menstrual hygiene awareness, self-confidence and overall well-being, creating a platform for young girls to learn and speak openly about menstruation.
The Bethiez Relief and Empowerment Foundation, in collaboration with JCI Premier, has empowered more than 130 adolescent girls in Ibadan through a menstrual health outreach aimed at tackling period poverty and stigma.
The programme, held on Saturday, 31 May 2025, at the Sabo Primary Healthcare Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, provided sanitary pads, roll-ons, and personal care items to girls between the ages of nine and twenty-two. Themed “Flow with Dignity: Empowering Girls, One Pad at a Time”, the initiative promoted menstrual hygiene awareness, self-confidence and overall well-being, creating a platform for young girls to learn and speak openly about menstruation.
Founder of Bethiez Foundation, Ademola Elizabeth Adedayo, underscored the importance of the initiative in restoring dignity to girls who face barriers due to lack of access to hygiene products. “At Bethiez Foundation, we believe every girl deserves to feel seen, valued and empowered. A sanitary pad might seem small, but it can mean a lot to a girl who has had to miss school because of her period. This is about restoring dignity and unlocking potential,” she said.
Volunteers from both organisations facilitated group discussions and interactive sessions, encouraging participants to share their experiences in a safe space. The outreach was described as transformative, leaving the girls with renewed confidence and knowledge to manage their menstrual health without shame.
The collaboration between Bethiez Foundation and JCI Premier was also highlighted as a demonstration of the power of partnerships in addressing grassroots challenges. Organisers said the event was a reminder that empowering young girls today contributes to building stronger communities tomorrow.
