After PIJAlance Story, LAUTECH Professor, Azeem Ige, Closes Reeking Poultry Farm in Residence
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Professor, Azeem Ige, has stopped running his putrid poultry farm in his Abaa residence, in Ogbomoso North Local Government.
The Professor, who is now former Dean, of Student Affairs (DSA), packed the farm which is infamous for a disturbing odour, away, barely a few months into 2024, after PIJAlance’s Research and Investigations Desk (RID), published an investigation into it. The investigation, which was published last year in July, noted that the Professor’s continuously stinking poultry farm defies all odds and stands residents a chance to be potentially opened to infectious diseases.
PIJAlance reported that keeping a poultry farm within a vicinity where people live can infect them with infectious diseases that cost a fortune.
Part of the concerns raised in our report was also that a poultry farm is expected to be kept at least 500 feet away from a residence where people live. PIJAlance noted that all these guidelines for erecting a poultry farm were broken by Professor Ige and this was among many reasons which orchestrated the need for the report.
Worthy of note, before our report was published, the Professor told our team that he had a lot of measures he often put into place to ensure the poultry was odour-free. But this remains the opposite of the experience the residents and our team witnessed at our several visits.
According to a resident who confirmed to our team, four months after the investigation was published, Professor Ige let out his interest in not wanting to continue with the poultry farm in his residence. His reason was that he received major calls from different places following the PIJAlance’s investigation.
During this time, the PIJAlance team observed that the Professor’s farm continued to run within the vicinity but the horrendous odour was a bit minimal.
However, around April and May 2024, Professor Azeem Ige finally packed his poultry farm away from the vicinity.
PIJAlance team also paid a visit to the vicinity and the location of the poultry farm. No odour, nor the cockadoodledoo of chickens was discovered.
