Abuja Police Shot 21-year-old Suspected as Cybercriminal
The report says that the boy was hit and was eventually left in a ditch by the officers who had thought he has died.
Some men of the Nigerian Police yet to be identified at FO1 Kubwa Sokale checkpoint, Abuja have reportedly shot a 21-year-old boy suspected to be a cyber criminal colloquially known as “Yahoo Boy.”
According to a report posted on Abuja Gist via X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the boy was shot after he ran away suspecting danger.
The report says that the boy was hit and was eventually left in a ditch by the officers who had thought he has died.
The post reads, “Yesterday, the 9th of november 2024 at about 6:40pm/7pm in the evening the Nigerian police @PoliceNG at the FO1 kubwa sokale checkpoint (abuja) 5 in number and armed, surrounded and tried to extort my 21year old brother the sum of 200,000 for an alleged (yahoo crime as they call it) that he didn’t commit and shot at the boy when he took off after sensing he was in danger they shot at him and left him for dead in a ditch and dispersed when they thought he had died.
“(thank God the bullet missed him but he was left with a completely broken left leg and bleeding.
Now his at the hospital fighting for his life. images of his leg and x ray result are in the next slide.”
Meanwhile, the boy is said to be alive and currently receiving treatment.
“We’ve tried to report the case and all they’re saying is
THANK GOD HIS ALIVE”
PIJAlance contacted the Abuja Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, on multiple occasions to establish the incident but couldn’t reach her. The line was busy. But we’ll continue to try until we reach her.
