The attack, which occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, claimed the life of Yanma Ndawodi, the youth leader of the community, while his mother, Gogo Fatima, sustained serious gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.

According to residents, the assailants stormed the quiet community, shooting indiscriminately and spreading panic among villagers.

Newsmen gathered that the gunmen also kidnapped five residents during the invasion. However, three of the abducted victims later escaped, while two others, identified as Ndagi Kudu and Hawau, remain in captivity.

A community source described the incident as terrifying, calling on the state government and security agencies to deploy more personnel to the area to prevent further attacks.

Witnesses said that the gunmen stormed the community in the evening, shooting sporadically and attacking residents in their homes before escaping into nearby forests.

In a similar report, PIJAlance reported how bandits stormed Efagi village, under the Lafiagi Emirate in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, last Friday.

The bandits kidnapped a man and his wife and injured a local vigilante.

The brazen attack, which occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., underscores the ongoing security challenges facing rural communities in the region.
