11 Days After, FCT Police Arrest 12 Suspected Armed Robbers Over Brutal Killing of ARISE News Anchor
According to Arise TV, Twelve criminals were arrested including Shamsudeen Hassan, Sanni Sirajo and two others who were involved in the robbery at Unique apartment in Katampe.
On Thursday, 9 October, the notorious armed robbers involved in the robbery that led to the death of Arise News Staff, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu and the security guard of Unique Apartment, Katampe, Barnabas Danlami were apprehended by the operative of Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor Godfrey. The arrests were based on digital and reconstructive intelligence provided by Giga Forensics, a subsidiary of EIB Stratoc.
According to Arise TV, Twelve criminals were arrested including Shamsudeen Hassan, Sanni Sirajo and two others who were involved in the robbery at Unique apartment in Katampe. Maduagwu was confirmed dead by maitama hospital after reportedly jump a three-storey building to escape the armed men during attack on 29th of September, 2025.
The gang were intercepted on another mission to rob maitama in the morning hour of Thursday and those arrested include Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu (alias Abba), Sani Sirajo (alias Dan Borume), Mashkur Jamilu, Suleiman Badamasi (alias Dan-Sule), Abdul Salam Saleh, Zaharadeen Muhammad, Musa Adamu, Sumayya Mohammed, Isah Abdulrahman, and Musa Umar.
Admitting to their crimes during interrogtion, Hassan confessed to killing the security guard while trying to gain access to the residence and Sirajo said he tried to hold Maduagwu when she wanted to fall off the three-storey building but was overwhelmed by her weight. The four suspects confessed to sharing N200,000 from the proceeds of the crime.
While Shamsudeen admits to driving the white Honda CR-V jeep out of the apartment, other recovered exhibits includes four phones ( which was tracked and aid in apprehending them), a fabricated ak-47 rifle, 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a locally made pistol, two sharp knives, a pump-action gun, nine torches and a cutlass
Though investigation is ongoing, Arise TV commended the swift action of the operatives.
